Soft and Dainty

Bought some daisies I have been having fun with. Here is another couple of shots.

So I have macro tubes and filters but I really want just a good macro lens. I am thinking of getting this one
Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro Lens,
or this one non EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
The first is in my price range right now. But the second one would be the better choice I think. We will see.

Enjoy the day.

Lovely Liz - especially the little water droplet one with the refraction.

Personally I wouldn't touch the first lens - you've already got a 50mm lens - all you need are reversing rings to make that into a 50mm that takes macro type shots. Plus the first lens isn't a true macro lens as it only gives 1:2 magnification rather than 1:1 (lifesize).

I use a tamron 90mm macro 1:1 which has excellent reviews on amazon and has been tested along side the canon 100mm.

Even though the 100mm Canon lens is a macro you have to turn off the image stabilization while working with a tripod to do macro work - hence one of the reasons I decided against buying this lens as lots of my macro work is done with a tripod plus it's alot heavier than the tamron aswell.

If you ever want to move up to a full frame camera then you would never be able to use the EF 50mm macro.

Hope that helps alittle

oops just realised that the canon macro you were referring to doesn't have IS. Yes that lens was one I thought of buying but in the end went for the tamron.
